How to Measure for a Collar

  • Measure along the front of the collar bone from the top of withers to the breast.
  • IMPORTANT – measure in a straight line – not curved around the contour of the horse.
  • Take the measurement several times until you are confident of the size needed as this measurement is critical for hame sizing as well as collar sizing.
  • If you are unsure of measurement it is better to be a little too big rather than too small. If the collar is too small it will never fit. If it is a little too big a collar pad can be used to take up a couple of inches.
Standard work collars are leather with white stitching and a stainless clip at top opening.
Standard work collars are half Sweeney. Full Sweeney available for additional 20.00.
EZ Care collars are made of American made slick PVC belting type material – it requires  no maintenance. After extensive testing by the Amish communities on their work horses the EZ Care collars have been found to move slightly due to very slippery surface area when sweat is present – The affect is that there are fewer pressure points due to give and take of the collar with the result being the horses show far less fatigue and soreness the next day after a hard day’s work.
The EZ Care collars can have a variety of colors on the stitching.
